ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ-Despite continued opposition to the project, LG Electronics is expected to break ground tomorrow (Thursday) on its controversial new corporate headquarters project.

Although opponents are appealing a recent court ruling in favor of LG's plan, the South Korea-based firm is expected to begin its $300-million project with the planting of the first of 700 trees on the 26-acre site, according to the Associated Press.

The crux of the opposition to the project has been the height of the 143-foot-high building. Opponents charge the building height exceeds a 35-foot height limit on buildings and would obstruct views of the Palisades. LG has countered that its design will blend into the surroundings of the area. See story in The Inquirer.
