WASHINGTON-In a soon to be released expressions of intent to be issued by the General Services Administration as part of its search for a new FBI headquarters, new criteria will eliminate a number of locations from the competition.
New criteria that requires that the site be within two miles of a Metrorail station and 2.5 miles from a Beltway interchange (or inside the Beltway) eliminates Loudoun and Prince William counties from the competition, as well as Westphalia in Prince George's County, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The GSA in its expressions of interest will stipulate that it is looking for Metro and Beltway accessible sites of approximately 50 acres—large enough to accommodate 2.1 million square feet of rentable and related space, plus parking, ancillary facilities and security set backs. Site bids will be accepted through Dec. 17.
The solicitation sets a desired area for the new FBI headquarters in a region that includes the district, Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland, and Northern Virginia as far as Prince William and Loudoun counties. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
