ARLINGTON, VA-Simon Property Group can now go ahead with its plans to add 51,000 square feet of space at the ground level of its Fashion Centre at Pentagon City property.

The expansion plan, which was recently approved by Arlington County, will allow space for five to seven retailers at the new space to be built on the mall's eastern side facing South Hayes Street, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Arlington County Board Chairman Walter Tejada stated, "This expansion plan for one of the region's most popular malls fits perfectly with the county's goal of making Pentagon City a more lively, walkable area. Bringing new shops and restaurants to South Hayes Street will be good for the mall and good for the neighborhood.” See story in the Washington Business Journal.
