NEW YORK CITY-Demolition of hundreds of auto-repair related industrial businesses in the Willets Point section of Queens could begin as early as next Saturday.
The city may use eminent domain to clear the 62-acre blighted commercial area, according to The Real Deal. Last week the Queens Borough Board approved the acquisition of 23 acres there by the Related Companies for its $3-billion Willets Point redevelopment plan.
However, as demolition day nears, many Willlets Point businesses continue to operate as normal. See story in The Real Deal.
