EGG HARBOR, NJ-In its ongoing efforts to acquire vacant or run-down motels along Black Horse Pike leading into Atlantic City and demolish them for redevelopment, Egg Harbor Township reports it plans to buy the Fortune Inn and a vacant parcel next door.

The township reported on Monday that in addition to the Fortune Inn, it also intends to purchase the Golden Key and Star Motels and is in talks with two other motel owners in West Atlantic City, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

The township has scheduled a hearing on the four parcels for Dec. 18. Many of the low-rent motels in the area suffered flood damage from Hurricane Sandy rendering most uninhabitable. See story in the Press of Atlantic City.
