BOSTON—Delaware North Companies, the Buffalo, NY-based owner and operator of TD Garden here, is planning to begin a $70-million renovation this summer of the area that is home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics.

The privately financed project, which is expected to take two years to complete, will involve the relocation and expansion of the Bruins' Proshop; an overhaul of the concourses on levels four and seven; and renovations to the Garden's concessions and the Legends Club, according to the Boston Globe. The plan also includes expansion of the retail and office space at the arena.

“It's our goal to really set the industry standard, the high-water mark, for fan experience,” says Charlie Jacobs, principal for Delaware North Companies and the Bruins. “And these renovations over the next 24 months I hope will really transform and bring the Garden to the forefront — to set the market standard, if you will — for fan experience, both in-game and also really from the moment when a customer exits their car and begins to enter our facility.”

The concourse renovation is scheduled to begin after the Bruins' NHL playoff appearance this summer. The Boston Celtics on the other hand will not qualify for the NBA playoffs this summer. See story in the Boston Globe.
