AUSTIN—With Austin's population on the rise, its growth seems to (currently, at least) know no bounds.

Participants in RealShare Austin's third panel, “Investment Opportunities: Capital From Near & Far,” underscored this notion, bringing their perspectives on the investment opportunities the city offers.

With moderator Kent Myers, associate vice president, investments, at Marcus & Millichap, leading the discussion, topics ranged from the importance of multifamily to foreign investment and cap-rate predictions.

“The fundamentals here are superb,” Gary Goodman, senior vice president of acquisitions, Passco Cos., said.

With millenials and other young-buyers playing a big role in Austin, the demographic has changed the way multifamily assets operate in the city.

“The younger generation is operating businesses out of multifamily [units],” Pat Jones, executive managing director, ARA, A Newmark Co., said.

Other panel participants included Brad Davey, senior vice president, Clarion Partners; Hale Umstattd, executive managing director, capital markets, Transwestern; and Rhonda Toming, managing director, Fischer & Co.
