ORLANDO-The alternative phone company still has until Aug. 31 to complete a deal with Cavalier Telephone Inc. of Richmond, Va. and Conversent Communications of Marlboro, MA.
The merger, announced in June, would have created Elantic Communications with connections from Florida to Maine.
The companies are tyring to win some market share from former monopolies that control local telephone service in their areas.
