The board now will need voter support to pass a $36 million bond measure for campus acquisition and construction. Some members initially expressed a strong preference for the Airport Hill site in Warrenton because of its views, but it is outside Warrenton's Urban Growth Boundary, making it an unlikely candidate for success due to a lack of zoning and infrastructure. Still, other members say the downtown location will make acquiring the land more expensive, and leaves the possibility that there could be no room in adjacent buildings of future expansion. The board has set a Sept. 30 deadline for acquiring state funding for capital assistance and property acquisition for the main campus.
