Veo had originally proposed an office park on this 10-acre parcel of land but when the zoning change he needed was shot down last October, he proposed a 300-unit apartment complex. Because this town has less than 10% affordable housing, the lowest in the state, a developer can bypass local zoning statutes to build affordable housing, according to state law.
Local residents had rejected Veo's office park because of traffic concerns. The traffic and population congestion of an apartment complex have compelled some residents here to call for a special town meeting to review Veo's office park proposal.
