The company's distribution and corporate headquarters will remain in Chesterfieldand the extra building space will be used for storage.

Lionel has been having difficulty stationing 50% of its workforce in Michigan and the rest overseas. Competitors now have 100% of their manufacturing employees working out of the country, Maddox said. "No viable options were identified. We made the decision to terminate the manufacturing operations here," he said.

About 325 manufacturing employees will be let go over the next three to eight months, Maddox said. An employee relocation firm has been hired to help them find jobs, he said.
