The models start at $45,000. Asheville is 75 miles west of Downtown Charlotte.
"It has applications for anybody looking at site selection, including retailers who might be considering one or multiple locations," George Self, president of locally based Management Assistance: Programs and Services Inc., tells GlobeSt.com.
He says, "It saves money for site selectors by avoiding the expense of opening new stores in poor locations and in finding sites with the greatest profit potential."
Self tells Globest.com his small, 25-year-old marketing company developed the program, believed to be the only one of its kind in the country, while working with Go Grocery to find sites for that Asheville-based business.
The company's modeling system combines data mining, artificial intelligence and genetic algorithm techniques. The model is delivered as an "add-in" to Microsoft EXCEL. It also allows users to develop other information such as tracking customer loyalty.
