According to plans unveiled yesterday before the city's zoning board, the bridge would be extended from Pacific Avenue and up Brighton Avenue, widened to 130 feet, and lined with stores and eateries. The hotel side of the bridge is being already being converted into a entertainment complex with a Latin theme.
"You won't know that you're walking across the street," Trop spokesperson Maureen Siman told the board. "It will be a seamless environment."
While the proposal appears likely to proceed, there are some objections. Concerns have been voiced that the shopping bridge would hurt adjacent businesses by cutting down local pedestrian traffic.
