The restaurants will be flanked by an already open Crate and Barrel on one end and a soon-to-be-opened Borders Books & Music on the other. The first restaurant open is Pallino Pastaria, a six-location Italian café chain by Harry Roberts that will open its seventh location next month in Issaquah's new East Lake Sammamish Shopping Center.

Next week, Paul Fleming is expected to open one of his P.F. Chang's China Bistro restaurants at The Center. The founder of downtown Seattle's Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is close to having 50 P.F. Chang's locations nationwide.

Of course, Starbucks is getting in on the action as well, opening a more restaurant-like facility to be called Starbucks at the Corner. More in the vain of Madison Park location, the location will likely include sit-down service where one can offset a caffeine buzz with wine and beer, appetizers, made-to-order salads, sandwiches and pizzas and a full line of desserts.

One more restaurant, believed to be a Cheesecake Factory, is planned for the remaining space between Crate and Barrel and Nordstrom. Assuring foot traffic for The Center is a free, 1,300-slip parking garage that will funnel people into The Lodge, a three-level atrium designed around a communal rock fireplace that provides direct access to P.F. Chang's and Starbucks, and direct access to the Internet, albeit for a fee.
