The tony 125,000-sf Trophy Club Plaza has been accorded a SADI Award by Shopping Center World. The grocery-anchored plaza is one of 32 shopping centers in the state owned and operated by Regency Centers, formerly known as Regency Realty Corp. O'Brien & Associates Inc. of Dallas had designed and developed the adaptation of the Texas Hill Country-style project, which is anchored by a 63,654-sf Tom Thumb. Other large tenants in the plaza are Bank of America, Blockbuster and Radio Shack. The plaza represents the first full-service center in the upscale Trophy Club, says James Buis, Regency's managing director of investments for the southwest region.

In February 1999, Regency had merged with Pacific Retail Trust and has been actively developing high-quality retail centers in Dallas, Houston and Austin. The award, says Buis, confirms the goal to develop top-notch centers "to create superior and neighborhood-friendly developments," working closely with leading architectural firms on the designs. As of Dec. 31, 2000, Regency owns 242 retail properties, totaling 27.8 million sf, in high-growth markets.

The 14-acre Trophy Club project is made of manufactured stone called Hill Country Chalk and boasts architectural elements such as towers, wood brackets and awnings. The earth-tone finish out is a textured concrete situated amid ample park settings.
