The New Haven-based law firm will relocate from approximately 16,000 sf of space it leases at 3 Stamford Plaza. The firm will occupy the entire seventh floor of 400 Atlantic St., which was made available in January 2001 after International Paper acquired Champion International. The paper company is currently relocating its headquarters operations from Purchase, NY to 400 Atlantic St. Law firm officials say that an increase in its corporate business required it to find additional space here. The move to the new offices is scheduled for the end of the second quarter.
Insignia/ESG's Steven Greenbush and Robert Martin represented Wiggin & Dana while Scott Landis, a principal of the Landis Group, negotiated for the ownership. Greenbush and Martin will act as agent for Wiggin & Dana's space at 3 Stamford Plaza, which is available for sublease until 2008.
Insignia/ESG officials say that this transaction is one of a number of new deals at the former Champion Building since 400 Atlantic Street Title LLC purchased the property from International Paper earlier this year.
The 400 Atlantic St. building is undergoing a multi-million dollar modernization program. Among the improvements will be a new, full-service cafeteria on the plaza level, a new fitness center and upgraded HVAC and elevator cabs.
