USC's Marshall School of Business will compete against UCLA's Anderson School of Business in the challenge, which will be held at the PacifiCenter @ Long Beach Visitor Center tomorrow night. Each seven-member team will present a solution to the question of what development concept or master plan would best suit the Boeing Realty Corp.'s Long Beach/Lakewood property, assuming no environmental issues exist.
The teams will meet individually with the judges to propose their comprehensive solution to the question and then they will present a condensed version to the audience. Following the presentation period, the teams will compete in an interactive question and answer session and then NAIOP SoCal will announce the winner.
This year's panel of judges will include a host of real estate professionals, including John Davenport, president of Spieker Properties' Southern California division; William Halford, president of The Irvine Co.'s Office Properties division; Brad Hillgren, president of Lowe Enterprises Commercial Group; Greg Mickelson, vice president of Koll Development Co.'s Retail Properties division; John Miller, president of Legacy Partners Commercial Inc.'s Southern Region division; and David Myers, editor of Real Estate Southern California magazine and LA correspondent for GlobeSt.com.
A cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m., with dinner and student presentations beginning at 7 p.m. More information can be obtained by calling the NAIOP SoCal chapter office at (714) 979-9131.
