The company is not done expanding in the market, officials say. Of particular interest are locations in suburban communities that restrict parking of commercial vehicles, boats, and RVs in driveways and multifamily parking lots. Senior vice president of acquisitions Bruce Taub says the firm looks for existing facilities with at least 40,000 sf. "We are always looking for good self-storage locations on arterial highways and in areas where there is strong demand for our product," adds Joe Kenney, Storage USA's development officer in Chicago.
The newest Storage USA facility has climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled units, and upgraded architecture.
