For the past 2 1/2 years, Meritage has had its regional headquarters at 302 Bowie in the CBD and a building off Wells Branch Road. The move brings a consolidation, but also an office space expansion for a planned staff increase, Kevin Bury, Meritage regional vice president, tells GlobeSt.com. The Austin office currently employs 45 people, but will have that number up to 80 by year's end.

The staff increase will mean that the Austin office will be the largest of the IT consulting firm's three regional headquarters and 12 offices nationwide. "The southwest is the fastest-growing region in the company," says Bury.

Meritage has taken Lost Creek's 7,800-sf penthouse floor and has an option for another 8,000 sf at the estimated 50,000-sf, class B building. The structure, built in 1985, is owned by Lost Creek Point LP. Steve McMillon, senior vice president of The Kucera Co., has negotiated the pact on the tenant's behalf while Gene Coffey of Capstone's Dallas office has represented the building owner. The average rate in the office property is $25 per sf.

Meritage has been recognized as the 15th fastest-growing companies in the US. In February, Meritage had acquired its fourth company since November, picking up Seattle-based Foci Technologies.

In addition to Austin, Meritage has regional headquarters in Columbus and Seattle. Founded in 1995, its headquarters are in Columbus. Meritage is an employee-owned, business to business operation for consulting and professional services to established corporations.
