Henry S. Miller Commercial's Christopher C. Leighton has sealed a long-term lease for 8,149-sf for Diagnostic Associates of North Texas, a group of nine internal medicine specialists. Bill Mays of Mays Frankum Enterprises has acted on behalf of the owner of the Emerald Office Center in Frisco.
In another Henry S. Miller deal, the University of North Texas has bought a 15,000-sf office-showroom from MARC Research. The property, located at 1700 Wilshire in Denton, will be used for a new campus police station. Dan Spika, Henry S. Miller Commercial senior vice president, has acted on the university's behalf while John Aldridge of Colliers Baldwin-Texas has represented the seller.
Over at the Weitzman Group, Karen McCulley and Robin Barrow of the commercial retail division have closed a sale for a 65,819-sf pad site in Lake Worth at the intersection of Texas 199 and Boat Club Road. Barry Davis of Gilmore-Davis Cos. has helped finalize the sale.
Applebee's Bar & Grill is planning to open a new metroplex location in late July, but construction details are unavailable from the restaurateur. Applebee's, based in Overland Park, KS, has 1,286 of the casual dining concepts up and running in the US, of which 1,001 are franchise locations.
Weitzman's Dennis Leibovitz, also with the commercial retail division, has finalized a 4,100-sf lease at Cornerstone Plaza I in the upscale town of Southlake. In September, Snookies, a neighborhood bar and grill, will open its fourth eatery at the plaza, located at the southeast corner of Southlake Boulevard and Commerce. Coppell/DTR Center LP is the plaza owner.
