Boeing isn't interested in the 686,000-sf Lockheed Martin Deer Creek headquarters in the southwestern part of the metro area. "They were awed by it," Dick Bourret, a broker with Grubb & Ellis tells GlobeSt.com. He is part of the team listing the building for $60 million. "They loved the architecture and the location," Bourret adds. "But it was just too big for their needs. And while they liked the location, it was too far away from an airport where they could park their corporate jets."

The Lockheed Martin building had been one of more than a dozen that Cushman Realty and Boeing executives had viewed during the April 6 whirlwind tour. Real estate sources say that several buildings have been eliminated because they are too small or fell short on other criteria. Boeing reportedly is looking for at least 250,000 sf.

In March, Boeing announced it would relocate corporate headquarters from its long-time home in Seattle. It has narrowed its search to Chicago, Dallas or Denver. It hopes to make a decision in May and move to its new city by August, so the children of the 500 relocating employees can be ready for school come September.
