Brunelli is the exclusive agent for Ann Arbor, MI-based Borders in northern and central New Jersey, and the latest lease is the retailer's third in Bergen County. The other two are a 25,000-sf store at Gabrellian's Paramus Town Center, Paramus; and 24,000 sf at T.P.K. Development's Fort Lee Town Centre, Fort Lee.
Borders' space requirements are generally in the 25,000-sf range, and besides book and music departments typically include a café. In terms of demographics, the chain requires between 25,000 and 50,000 college grads residing within the defined trade area.
The Borders store at Interstate Plaza will join a new Bed, Bath & Beyond on a site formerly occupied by a bowling alley and a movie theater, both of which have been demolished. A Shop Rite supermarket anchors the property.
