The land is situated across the street from the airport's cargo entrance and fronts a new street, Spirit of Texas Drive, which leads into the airport proper. Austin Bergstrom Airport Centre Ltd. is the seller. Airport Fast Park-Austin LP is the official buyer. The Kucera Co. in Austin has handled the transaction.
The project will accommodate parking overflow and will aid airport development plans that call for a doubling of the facilities in the coming years. That expansion includes the cargo area, which neighbors the land buy.
Air cargo is up 39% from last year, with 357 tons of cargo shipped. And, the growth is continuing at a hardy pace this year. The master plan calls for cargo space to double to 400,000 sf. The Lynx Group of Austin and Aeroterm have developed the existing 200,000.
