"It may in fact become their Southwest regional office," John Childers, principal with Colliers Oxford Commercial in Austin, tells GlobeSt.com. He has negotiated the 6,035-sf, three-year pact on SpectraSite's behalf. James Parker of James Parker Interests has represented the building owner at Congress Square II. The 51,000-sf building, constructed in 1972, is located at 611 S. Congress in the state capital's south submarket.
Childers says the Cary, NC-based communications tower owner's lease was close to coming due and more space definitely was needed. The operation's second-floor office totaled 2,500 sf.
The Austin office currently is under the auspices of SpectraSite's Atlanta team, says Childers. "But it's growing so fast in Texas that they anticipate it's going to become a larger office over time," he says. The three-year pact and the added space are in keeping with the Austin team's growth strategy, according to Childers.
SpectraSite owns and leases antennae sites on towers, managing rooftops and in-building telecommunications access for commercial real estate, network planning and deployment and tower construction plus related wireless facilities. It owns or manages more than 15,000 sites and in excess of 3,000-owned tower in 98 of the nation's Top 100 markets.
