The construction of the student facility, along with the planned renovation of an adjacent 14,000-foot residential hall, will include a 20-foot fireplace and hearth, audio-visual rooms and a pedestrian sky-bridge. The design incorporates eco-friendly components. Seattle U., although located downtown, is the only campus in Washington to be designated a backyard wildlife sanctuary by the state's Department of Wildlife.
Baugh Enterprises, a subsidiary of Stockholm-based Skanska, began working with the school in 1985 and has built 10 different buildings on campus, including university's St. Ignatius Chapel, which has received international recognition for architectural design and world-class craftsmanship.
