But city officials confirm HUD is bringing in John Collier, former executive director of the Evansville, IN Housing Authority, to replace Moore and remain as interim executive director until a permanent replacement is found. The job pays $80,000 a year.
Moore stepped into the Sanford Housing Authority debacle after Timothy Hudson, executive director for five years, resigned April 20 amid allegations of mismanaging $1 million of HUD funds earmarked for apartment improvements.
Hudson, a general contractor and developer, denied the charges. The five-member authority board also resigned.
HUD's Inspector General's office continues to probe into the authority's activities for possible criminal action after raiding the authority's offices in April and seizing 600 cartons of files and an assortment of office-used computers.
