According to Mary Beth West, spokesperson for the company, NSI opened an office in this area because it has relationships with a number of local companies, including EMC and Digital Equipment Corporation. West adds that the company also has a number of customers in the area and views the Greater Boston area as a good source for technical talent.

Established in 1991, Hoboken, New Jersey-based NSI develops business continuance solutions, which enable companies to recover quickly from disasters and continue to provide business-critical information for customer environments. In a released statement, the company states that this new location "will improve NSI Software's ability to help New England area companies prepare for the possibility of electricity shortages and rolling blackouts similar to those experienced by the state of California."
