Loren-Maltese has been a licensed Illinois real estate salesperson since 1974, her license now sponsored by Cermak Road Realty, Inc.
The indictment alleges the systematic siphoning of funds started in 1992, when an insurance consulting firm was given the town's business, which amounted to $33 million over the years.
The town's history of connections to organized crime go back to the days of Al Capone, who ran his operations in the town. Most recently, a former police chief and his deputy were awarded $1.7 million for their wrongful firings after they cooperated with federal investigators.
