San Francisco-based Pottery Barn Kids hopes to change the way parents decoratetheir children's rooms by offering a décor collection that is "well designed, stylish, casual and affordable," says Patrick Wynhoff, vice president and general merchandise manager for the retailer.

In an effort to capture the home furnishing and accessories market for children, Pottery Barn Kids mailed its first catalog in January 1999. That was followed by the introduction of eight stores last year in California, Georgia, Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Florida.

The year, the company plans to add 20 more stores, including the Edina store.
