The CCDC approved redevelopment plans for the Downtown block bordered by Island Avenue and Front, Union and Market streets. The block would be converted to a 455-foot-high tower, with ground-level retail and a 40,000-sf museum.

The board also approved Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade as a temporary home for the museum during construction. The condo and museum project now moves to the City Council for consideration in September.
