The division of London-based Bass PLC operates the hotel under contract with Miami-based Peebles Atlantic Development Corp., developer of the convention and resort hotel that is scheduled to open this fall.
Prior to accepting the job, Showell worked as sales and marketing director at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Omaha, NE, where he supervised one of the company's five national sales offices. In addition, Showell has also served in sales and marketing positions with the Hyatt group in Indianapolis, IN; Oakland, CA; Washington, DC; and Baltimore, MD.
A native of Camden, N.J., Showell earned a bachelor's degree in economics, with concentration on business administration, from Rutgers University. He is a member of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners, American Society of Association Executives, Shriners and the Prince Hall Masons.
