DSCA was represented in the transaction by Richard Van Houten, Jr., vice president in Trammell Crow Co.'s Chatham, NJ office. According to Van Houten, "by focusing on key demographic pockets, we aligned their requirement with the need for visibility and a high-traffic corridor. Beyond that, the neighborhood is undergoing significant retail redevelopment, which validates the buyer's commitment to a successful self-storage operation."
DSCA plans to significantly upgrade the building with new exterior surfacing, climate-controlled environment and new security systems. When the asset is fully converted to a self-storage operation, it's expected to have more than 500 units in a variety of sizes.
