The Jackson Walker law firm has hiked its 112,500-sf, four-floor office quarters by an entire floor, taking over the 57th floor or 28,500 sf of the 72-story high-rise, positioned at 901 Main St. The firm occupied the floor about eight years ago, but swapped it out for the 61st floor, Mike Wilson, Jackson Walker managing partner, tells GlobeSt.com. Now, it's time to take it back.

The decision to stay put is mortared in confidence in the Dallas CBD. Wilson confides that other options were considered and then nixed. "We like where we live," he says. "We plan to be in the CBD for a long time to come."

Wilson, a 30-year veteran of Dallas CBD offices, says the city is riding a revitalization wave that is taking root "at our end of town." A host of CBD projects were critical factors in the law firm's decision to stay put. "It's exciting for the future and the vitality of downtown Dallas," he says.

Earlier this year, Jackson Walker combined with the Cohan, Simpson, Cowlishaw & Wulff firm. The combined staff needed extra room and the firm needed room to grow, he says. "We expect and intend to continue to grow and we were simply out of space," asserts Wilson.

Minimal build-out is under way, with an eye on a fall move-in, C&W director Daryl Mullin tells GlobeSt.com. He, associate Lawrence Gardner and senior leasing representative Jeri Hadsell negotiated the pact for building owner, Sunbelt Management Co. of Florida. William A. Zei of McLeod-Zei Inc. of Dallas acted on the tenant's behalf. The lease takes the Bank of America Plaza to 95% occupancy, says Mullin.

Jackson Walker was one of the first tenants when the near 1.9-million-sf, class A high-rise delivered in 1985. It immediately achieved landmark status as Dallas' tallest building, rising 921 feet, and is easily the most recognizable silhouette on the skyline. The emerald green lighted tower can be seen from a distance of 26 miles.

Jackson Walker is one of the state's oldest law firms. Founded in the late 19th century, it has more than 300 attorneys in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, Houston, Richardson, San Angelo and San Antonio.
