The privately owned commercial mortgage firm also hired Catherine A. H. Bergwall as an assistant vice president in the firm's Atlanta office. Bergwall will concentrate on affordable housing.
In his career, Kavel has arranged equity, mezzanine, construction, fixed and floating rate debt for 10,000 senior housing units in 37 states.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Florida State University and an MBA from the University of Georgia where he majored in real estate and finance. Kavel is a member of the American Seniors Housing Association; holds a CPA designation; and is a licensed real estate broker in Georgia.
Prior to joining Collateral, Bergwall was vice president of acquisitions at Affordable Equity Partners Inc. in Columbia, MO. She received her BS degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University and her MBA from Ashland University.
Bergwall is experienced in the syndication of low-income housing tax credits.
