"One of our most congested intersections has been IH-35 and 1325," Nancy Yawn, Round Rock's director of business development and public information officer. The Dell Computer Corp. campus on the east side of the interstate started the congestion and it's gotten worse since the opening of the La Frontera mixed-use development on the west side of the highway. Congestion should decrease by 30% with the turnaround lanes, Yawn tells GlobeSt.com. Earlier this year, another exit opened and routed much of the traffic to Dell and the Boardwalk retail center.

The lanes open tomorrow with a ceremony that has state and local officials lined up to participate. The $5-million project was a joint venture between the city of Round Rock and the Texas Department of Transportation.
