The new buildings will house laboratories, office space, a cafeteria, fitness center and occupational health centers. The new facilities will be ''cutting edge biotechnology manufacturing operations,'' says Tim Walsh, of Mortenson. He also says that the aesthetics will blend in with Longmont's setting, with Long's Peak as a backdrop.

Mortenson will work closely with the architectural firms on the project, Davis Partnership, HLW and Moore Ruble Yudel.

In addition to the Amgen buildings, Mortenson recently landed the Denver Art Museum expansion and the Cultural Center Parking Garage, the Larimer County Fairgrounds & Events Center, and a Cherry Creek north mixed-use development.

The company is celebrating its 20th year of building in Colorado.
