Three Dallas-Area Firms Cop Honors

PFSWeb Inc. of Plano is ranked fifth out of 500 tech companies by Deloitte & Touche's Technology & Communications Group. The Technology Fast 500 ranking is based on the average five-year percentage revenue growth. PFSWeb's growth is 77,924%. It is a comprehensive outsourcing solutions provider with part of its focus on Web-enabled customer contact centers and international distribution services. In all, 23 Texas companies make the roster, eight more than last year.

Hillwood is named corporate partner of the year by Tarrant County's Work Advantage program for its role in developing and supporting the Alliance Opportunity Center. the center is a job screening site and adjunct to Tarrant County College, which offers courses for employee development for the more than 100 companies within the 15,000-acre AllianceTexas bounds. The center, which opened in May 1998, project is a joint effort of Hillwood, the college, Tarrant County Workforce Development Board, Texas Workforce Commission and Ft. Worth Chamber of Commerce. Last year, the center received an award of excellence as a model public-private partnership from the National Association of Counties.

WorkPlaceUSA copped a merit award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of North Texas for its renovation of the 24,200-sf Mount Vernon, a historical 10-acre estate built on the shores of Dallas' White Rock Lake in 1927. The project was completed in half the time originally projected and came in at significantly less than anticipated, say WorkPlaceUSA officials. A flexible design-build schedule pushed renovation in some areas while final design decisions were being made for other sections of the structure.

A Mount Vernon subcontractor, Mills Electrical Contractors, also walked away with a top honor in the category for projects under $2 million as a result of its participation in the project.
