The newest property in the 125-plus Hilton Garden Inn chain in North America is owned by Chesterton Gardens Limited Partnership, controlled by Gerald A. Stillman, whose Mid-Con Hospitality Group, L.L.C. will manage the hotel.
One possible market is the University of Notre Dame "subway alumni" making treks from Chicago to the Golden Dome. However, hotel general manager James V. Daly notes Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is nearby, as are antique shops in Chesterton and the Blue Chip Casino.
"The Hilton Garden Inn Chesterton is the ideal hotel for both the leisure and business traveler," Daly says.
Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Nisource, Jefferson Smurfit, Nipsco, Cat Freight Systems, Jet Corr and U.S. Steel have a corporate presence in the area.
