Last week, Beazer Homes said it expected to report an increase in orders from last November. New home orders in the southeast for October and November were up 43.2 % over 2000. For November alone, new home orders increased 42.2 % from the year-ago period, according to a written statement.
Beazer's central region had the biggest one-year jump from November to November, rising 91%. Over the two months ending Nov. 30, new home orders increased 52.5% in the region.
In the western region, new home orders increased 63.6% from October and November 2000 to the same period this year. The one-month increase was 53.5%. New orders for the west region include 18 and 40 units for the one and two-month periods ended November 30, 2001, from Sanford Homes of Colorado. Beazer acquired Sanford Homes, the deal was effective Aug. 1.
The mid-Atlantic region saw the slowest growth. New home orders were nearly flat, increasing less than one percent between October and November of 2000 and October and November of 2001. New orders were up 6.2% when just November was considered.
