Trying to buy out property owners on K Street was a major hardship for the development company, who eventually threw in the towel on both plans. Apparently, the property owners were demanding too much money.
Westfield has decided to find a place in the existing plaza that will supply Century with enough screens to compete with suburban mega-theaters.
At a recent city council meeting, K Street was named as one of the largest pieces of unfinished business left in the downtown redevelopment area, with millions of dollars spent on it over the last few years.
