"Ford Motor Company has made a commitment to its Chicago manufacturing operations and we look forward to helping them make that a reality," says CenterPoint president and chief operating officer Michael Mullen.

Five buildings will be constructed on the long-abandoned 155-acre former brownfield site, providing 1.7 million sf for Ford's suppliers to aid operations of the carmakers nearby plant. Infrastructure improvements, including new roads, have begun with the help of $11 million in tax increment financing and a $4.8 million grant from the state department of commerce and community affairs. Completion of the park is expected in the second half of 2003.

The next announcement is expected to be lease deals with the Ford suppliers.
