At the other end of the East-West Corridor, the picture was mixed in the Oak Brook submarket, Cushman & Wakefield says. On one hand, 2001 saw 2.3 million sf in lease deals done there. However, that was 14% off the 2000 pace, and net absorption was the worst in the suburbs at a negative-536,000 sf. Five new buildings, totaling 725,000 sf, came on line while available sublease space shot up 77%, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
Space in Lisle/Naperville remains more economical at an average of $21.29 per sf, nearly 9% less than the $23.04 per sf average in Oak Brook, according to the firm.
