Wayne D. Robinson of Henry S. Miller Commercial in Dallas handled talks for the seller, New Horizon Enterprises of Plano, and is now working with the developer on the land plan and marketing. Forney, says Robinson, is "a market that's hot for commercial properties" now that Dallas is pushing hard to the east. Forney acreage is fetching in the neighborhood of $27,000 per acre. Head north from the metroplex, Robinson says, and a buyer is sure to pay close to $100,000 per acre. He says the bottom-line is it's worth the travel "if you don't mind the distance." In recent months, six fair-sized tracts have been sold for multiple types of commercial development along Forney's growth corridor.

Robinson says a ground-breaking date for Petrea's storage complex is up in the air. The land is along FM 1641, abutting the Mustang Industrial Park and across the street from a new Forney school in a residential area.
