Taking over for Veissi in 2003 will be Tom Salomone, president-elect. Frank Kowalski is the new vice president-secretary. Russell Grooms Jr. is treasurer.
Veissi is owner/broker of Veissi & Associates Inc., Miami and has been a vigorous promoter of the trade group over the past two decades. He is especially supportive of FAR's two-year-old, $6,000 college scholarship program for high school seniors.
"This scholarship program offers a tremendous opportunity for Florida Realtors to demonstrate their dedication to their community," Veissi says in a previously prepared FAR statement. "And what better way to do that then to help young people continue their education and realize their dreams for the future."
He says in the statement, "There's a side to the real estate profession that often goes unheralded. Realtors do a lot more for the community than (some) people may realize." The FAR scholarship program is "just one example" of that, Veissi says.
Veissi is a former treasurer, vice president and 1981 president of the Coral Gables Board of Realtors. He was Realtor of the Year in 1978 and 1988.
Salomone is broker/owner of Real Estate II Inc. with offices in Coral Springs, FL and Margate, FL. Kowalski is president of Metro Dade Realty, Miami. Grooms is a broker with Watson Realty Corp., Jacksonville, FL.
