Baldwin's Run is being developed on the site of Westfield Acres, an 18-building complex built back in the early 1940s. The badly deteriorated complex was demolished last year to make way for the new project, which is being developed as affordable housing. More than 400 residents were forced to relocate to clear the way for demolition.

Baldwin's Run, named for a local stream, is being joint-ventured by the Camden-based St. Joseph's Carpenter Society and Philadelphia-based Pennrose Properties. The developers are using $33 million in financing from the State of New Jersey and a federal HUD grant of $35 million to get the project done. The for-sale units will be priced in the range of $50,000 to about $65,000.
