Interior and exterior environmental remediation, such as removing asbestos, began several months ago, according to the Metropolitan Football Stadium District.
Such activities were required before the actual demolition, being overseen by Turner Construction. Turner was the main general contractor on Invesco Field.
Wrecking crews will begin with the south stands and move clockwise until the entire structure is brought.
The stadium won't be imploded with dynamite. Rather, crews will chop up steel beams and remove structures. Still, because the project is quite hazardous, the public isn't invited to watch it come down.
After razing Mile High, the stadium district plans to use the ground for parking. Hopefully, the ground will be turned into a parking lot in time for next season.
