In Anthem, a $7.5-million, five-building project is on the drawing boards. DLR Group of Phoenix has designed the elementary school development, located at 2701 W. Memorial Dr. It is the second of four schools being planned for Anthem, says Tim Tait of the Deer Valley Unified School District.

The City of Surprise, faced with a 24% enrollment spike in 2001, is undertaking a 98,000-sf elementary school on 20 acres donated by the city. Gilleland Brubaker Architects Ltd. of Phoenix designed the project for the Dysart Unified School District. Countryside Elementary School will go up at 15245 W. Greenway Rd. and carries a July completion.

In South Phoenix, the Laveen Elementary School District will build a 62,000-sf facility on land at 51st Avenue and Baseline Road that has been acquired from the Cheatham family. Architectural Resource Team Inc. of Phoenix is the architect. The Cheatham Elementary School will deliver in November.
