The courthouse at 401 W. Washington St. was one of 34 winning entries for the AIA's highest honor in its annual competition. Some 700 projects nationwide vied for the award, which will be presented in May in Washington, DC. Judges lauded the courthouse's ability to serve as a "central point of interest and an oasis in the desert."
Michael Schroeder, Langdon Wilson partner, says the project was "amazing...and to have been associated with its creation is an honor unto itself." Meier incorporated his signature white-on-white design in a monochromatic color scheme and open space planning to "create a monumental setting that evokes the power of the US judicial system," according to a Langdon Wilson press release.
