Andrews Products signed six renewals for 6,084 sf and 4,867 sf at 5212 N. Shapland Ave., as well as 3,000-sf leases for 9818, 9824, 9830 and 9836 W. Farragut Ave., all within the O'Hare Center.
"Tenants such as Andrews Products remain long time residents due to the center's central location and easy access to I-294, I-190 and I-290," Wagener says.
While the industrial market has remained relatively strong compared to other sectors, city and suburban in-fill sites remain especially attractive, especially to users, experts say. Vacancy is up, notes Grubb & Ellis senior vice president Terrence M. O'Hara, CCIM, but the rise is from 7% last year to a current reading of 8%.
Further down the Northwest Tollway, mailing house Citipost, Inc. has signed a lease for 9,088 sf at 1551 Elmhurst Rd. in Elk Grove Village's Rogers Industrial Park. Access to O'Hare International Airport was a factor, notes Mark Baumhart, CCIM, of Arthur J. Rogers & Co.
