At a San Ramon meeting, the county planning commission voted 6-1 to approve the development, while the San Ramon Regional Planning Commission voted 5-0 to deny it. It was decided that both recommendations would be considered when the proposal goes before the Board of Supervisors in the next month.
One of the major concerns of those who oppose the project, including many Danville officials, is that there won't be enough water to serve 1,400 new homes. The county would have to extend the water services boundaries, say city officials. In addition, the developer that is chosen for the project would have to incorporate water conservation measures into its proposal.
